This site was created by Laurie Snyder, a published non-fiction author, genealogist and humanities researcher-writer with a specific interest in the history of the 47th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and the lives of its members and their families before, during and after the American Civil War. A native Pennsylvanian, she is also a direct descendant of a member of this regiment, and has been engaged in documenting the burial locations of each member of the 47th Pennsylvania Volunteers and their immediate families for nearly a decade. The majority of volunteers assisting her with her research efforts are also native Pennsylvanians and/or descendants of members of the regiment. To receive further information about the 47th Pennsylvania Volunteers or request consulting help in researching a member of the regiment or descendants of regiment members, please contact our team by email or social media:

Do you have photographs or newspaper clippings which document the service details of a specific member of the 47th or of the entire regiment?
Have you unearthed a document which could help correct the oft-reprinted misspelling of a 47th soldier’s name or confirm the burial location of a missing member of the 47th?
